Lumos
« on: January 01, 2006, 10:47:53 AM »

Just started listing to the muggle and potter casts, and the Leaky Mug talked about this particular event:

Grab your broom, set your Portkey, or prepare to Apparate! From July 27-30, 2006, Las Vegas, Nevada is the place to be for Harry Potter fans near and far as we gather to attend Lumos 2006: A Harry Potter Symposium. Following our theme of "Back to School," we are planning a variety of daytime academic presentations and panels, including special workshops for educators and librarians. In the evenings, we'll be having fun with an assortment of activities, including Water Quidditch, Hogwarts Night Classes, and Live Chess.

Prepare to be completely immersed in the world of Harry Potter. Our host hotel will be decorated Hogwarts-style, with a "Great Hall," a "Common Room" for all houses, and a library for those wishing to emulate our favorite bushy-haired witch. We'll also enjoy British food and butterbeer throughout the symposium.

This sounds like lots of fun. $180 registration not so much, though. Well, maybe a miracle will happen and I'll win a lottery I never entered and be able to afford to go. :)

Ooh that sounds like a lot of fun.  Course finding the money yeah, that's another story entirely. *sigh*

Not to mention airfare to Nevada...

But yeah, that would be so much fun. I was never enough of a geek to go to a Sci-Fi Con or an AnimeFest or a Comic Book Convention or anything like that, but I certainly AM enough of one to go to a Harry Potter Symposium!

The quantity of consonants in the English language is constant. If omitted in one place, they turn up in another. When a Bostonian "pahks" his "cah," the lost r's migrate southwest, causing a Texan to "warsh" his car and invest in "erl wells."

I'm waiting for Ed McMan or however his name is spelt.  That's probably why I'm not getting the money, I can't spell his name right.

I'm only an 8 hour drive from Vegas so that's not a problem for me, it's just the expense of being there.
