What number caption contest is this, again?
« on: August 19, 2005, 05:52:40 AM »

Rules: (Please read all the rules before submitting your caption)
- I'll present you with one picture. It is your job to come up with an appropriate caption to go along with that picture.
-Captions are all to be submitted to me by PM. Do not post your captions in this thread.
- 3 points will be awarded to each person who participates. You may send as many submissions as you'd like to but you will only receive 3 entry points (no matter how many you send).
- 12 points go to the winner, thus a total of 15.
- 7 points go to second place, a total of 10.
- I'll post everyone's submissions when I've finished judging
- Entries are judged on creativity, grammar, and humor
Note:

I would just like to point out the above rule and emphasize its importance, particularly the grammar bit. I just feel the need to let you know that your chances in the contest will be far better if you proofread your captions before sending them in, as I am a stickler for spelling and grammar. It is a simple matter to type your caption in a word processor such as Word to spelling/grammar-check it before sending it, and it really makes a dramatic difference.  :)

Apologies for the poor quality of the image.

This contest will close on Friday, August 26th at 11:59 pm, PST (my time zone.) I'll probably post results on August 27th. Good luck to all applicants! May your creative juices flow freely!

Please excuse my tardiness, but after much deliberation, the results are finally in! First, our runners-up, receiving 3 points apiece.

Harry: He did want to know what a rubber duck is for...

Coming in second place, receiving a total of 10 points is Christine!

Molly: "Percy made the finals of Pop Idol!  Oh, isn't it wonderful?"

Ron:  "That Simon bloke really has gone off his rocker!"

And our winner, receiving 15 points is

Heather!

Congratulations to all participants! Another contest will be up as soon as I find a suitable picture! ^_^

I felt stupid, because I actually didn't get Ping's... I knew there must be something I was missing there... lol, some judge I am, when I don't even get the jokes. O_o

Thanks for all your hard work doing this Shelly.  A long time ago I used to love going to the Monstervision website (it is no longer up) which had a caption contest for a scene from that week's movie.  This is so much better and more fun.

You are quite welcome! It's my pleasure to run the contest, really. Sometimes I worry about not being a good judge, but it really is fun to see everyone's ideas. (Not to mention I don't have to worry about coming up with something clever! ;D)
