Avatar competition?
« on: June 03, 2005, 05:21:31 PM »

I've become something of an icon-making nut lately, and I think it might be enjoyable to have an icon contest or two here. My thought would be to supply one or two pictures, which the competitors could then use as the base for their own icon creations.

I know several resources for icon-making, so I would definitely post those before starting the competition. So, let me know what you think.

There would be points involved for sure, and maybe some other prize of some sort. (No idea what, though!)

I think that would be really fun.  I'm not a whiz with computer stuff like that, but if you post some of those resources, I would enter!  A little healthy competition never hurt anyone...

Yeah, I've been having fun with icons, too. And I just got my new iBook and Photoshop, so I'd certainly be in.

I couldn't make an icon to save my house elf, but I'd enjoy seeing others' creations.

I'm not too good at making icons, but it would be fun to see what other people and I could come up with!

Well, it looks like most of our active members  :-\ have voiced their opinions, so I say this is a go. I posted a resource post in the GrandPre forum, so take a look and start poking around. I haven't decided on the final details of the contest, but once I do, I'll let everyone know.

Thanks for your participation! I'm awarding 3 points to everyone who commented. :)

Hmm, a smaller turnout than I had hoped for the last competition. Do you guys want another one? I know sometimes it can be hard to think up anything for a given image.

Yeah, I'd be interested in another competition. I love making avatars, even though I'm not great at it. ^_^

Maybe a different kind of competition, though? Instead of supplying a base image, maybe we could have a theme or another set of boundaries. Just a thought, because I did have a bit of a tough time coming up with something interesting. :)
