Tell me I rock!
« on: February 17, 2005, 11:25:03 AM »

I sent a short story to Asimovs. I'm trying to relax, but I'm all nervous. And this is just day one in an at least five-week process. I'm nervous! I need validation! Help!  :o

Ping rocks so hard I think she's causing an earthquake. ;D

Good luck with the story! Not that you'll need luck; you've got the skill. ^__^

*nervous grin* I hope so. I'm trying not to be nervous. One of my friends just feels relieved when she submits a story, but I'm not that lucky. Hopefully it'll wear off so that I can get on with my life!

Nothing yet. Their response time is around five weeks. So I'm trying to work on other stuff and stop biting my nails.

If you don't hear anything, PM me -  I have a client who has written some things who I recently negotiated an ageny deal with a local agent so I acutally have some legal knowledge on the subject.   For what it is worth, your writing, from what I have seen on this site, is much better than my client.  I say that with no pre-disposition. . . . although, we all most know,  . . . . . Ping RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OOoooOOOOoooo! Always good to have someone who knows what they're talking about. :) Until I get a novel more than in the revision stages, I'll probably not need an agent, but after that, well, I may come PMing at your door. :D

I used to be able to do calculus. Now I can't even estimate five weeks. I was thinking that yesterday was the five-week point, but it's not. It was only four weeks. So I have another week of agony.

I also sent a story to Paradox, and their response time is anywhere from 1-4 months. I hopehopehope I'm on the shorter end of that because it's historical fiction, rather than speculative fiction. I sent it on the first of March. Yeah, long wait. I hate waiting.

I have another short story in to the writer's group for critique, and another one I'm going to turn in next week for critique, though I have no idea where to submit it.

I have two novels that need editing, and then I can start sending them out. I've got another that I'm working on. I feel prolific!

Well, it's easier when I don't have to keep up with other people, I think. And I've made it a pretty big priority in my life, so that means I sacrifice other stuff for it, but that's okay. I think. Though I haven't worked no the short story I need to be working on.

Really? I think it's easier for me to write in RPs because I have to keep up with other people - motivation to post, and all that. Otherwise I'd just procrastinate. :p

How's that going, anyway? :)

Not as good. Tooth pain can really distract from productivity!

Still waiting on my responses (now have three submissions out there).

I am editing a novel for a small press, and I got the final version from the author today. It looks like the first few pages have some really good changes. Hopefully it'll be a stronger story all around. :)

I just keep getting yelled at by those who I RP with because they post like 10 pages at a time and I do like a paragraph.  It annoys them.  ;D

Lol! I tend to have that problem, too. I dislike just assuming I know what the other characters are doing. So I just post a bit and go off.

Of course, I have also discovered I have a very spare writing style in general, so that's also part of the problem. :)

64 days later, I finally have my response from Asimovs. A rejection letter. Not even signed by the editor. I'm a real writer now! I have proof of professional activity! Woot!

There'll be other agencies. You're a great writer! I've seen the stuff you have on this site, and you do rock! Hang in there, and remember being positive is always the best answer.

And good luck with all your other writing projects! Wow, you sure do more than I could handle. I find it hard to get one chapter of a fanfiction up every other week....
