Revamping the Trivia Contest
« on: May 05, 2004, 08:46:41 PM »

Hi!  I have been noticing that it is basically the same handful of people who are responding to the trivia questions.  I would like to liven things up a bit to get more involvement.  I have been toying with the idea of an internet search where you use your trivia knowledge to answer questions to unlock clues . . . basically, have you run all over the internet to gather the goodies for the scavenger hunt.  This would take some time to develop, and would likely take more than a week for people to complete.

I also toyed with a Tri-Wizard tournament where you have to clear the question each week to progress to the next level.  The tournament would run through the month or House Cup.

Let me know your thoughts.  If you have any other ideas on how to liven things up and/or encourage more involvement, please pm me - I would love as much input as possible.

I have set the poll to let you answer twice in case there is more than one option above that you like.

Actually, it wasn't letting me vote for more than one thing, so I changed it. :)

I haven't voted because I haven't decided, yet.  I can say, however, that doing something that would take more time would make me less inclined to participate.  As it is, I only participate if I know that I can easily find the answer.  If it'll take longer, I don't participate.  It's not that I'm lazy, it's just that I'm busy.

I'm not saying an internet scavenger hunt wouldn't be fun; it probably would.  I just know that I'd be less likely to "play" if it took a long time to accomplish.  But then again, if it were fun enough, I may play anyway.....

I LOVE the idea of a Triwizard Tournament.

Ditto the Scavenger Hunt, although that would mean a tougher time going through my Internet History list and erasing all the sites I "shouldn't" be on at work :P

Not to offend anyone, but I like questions that cannot be answered by simply going to the HP lexicon.  So I voted for harder questions.  But that's just me. ^-^

I really like the idea of a triwizard tournament, but how would it be exactly? Otherwise I think the questions are fine the problem is i'm kinda lazy so I don't really answer very often, but I like looking at the answers.

Scavenger hunts are cool. So are bonus questions. :)

*love* the idea of a TriWizard thing. Do that! Do that! [/6 year old]

Seriously, I think that would be awesome.

I like the triwizard tournament idea too, but it was a hard decision...

Well, I'm glad that nobody voted for "The trivia contest is dying, let it RIP". And I love the idea about a tri-wizard tournament too. 8)

I don't want to be annoying or anything, but wouldn't it make more logic if the tournament finished in June. Never mind, I know it's impossible for us to go back in time and start the tournament in October-November...

Heather, if you need any help with the set-up or layout or whatever, let me know. I'll see what I can beg/borrow/create for it. :)
