Clothing for the opening of PoA?
« on: April 21, 2004, 04:36:47 PM »

I'm interested in knowing the plans everyone is making for the opening day of PoA.

What are you wearing?

*blushes as she realizes she sounds like a pervert*

Any parties out there?  I could definitely use some suggestions on mini-games, decor, blah blah blah.

Dude, I suppose I should start preparing, ne? I don't know what I'll wear--probably go mundane. I don't seem to have as much time for costuming as once I used. Sad but true.

For games, there's always the trivia game or modifications there-of (like using the cards but having different criteria for winning), the quidditch game (but it's only for two players), HP Uno, which I LOVE, and, uh, I guess that's all I can think of for now. :)

I am going to an early showing of the movie with a group of friends.  Afterwards, it is on to Harry Potter trivia.  One of my friends coaches Scholar's Bowl, so she lets us use the buzzers to chime in for the answers.

I wouldn't have the guts to go in costume, nor would I have the desire to at this point in time. I'm not sure I'll even go on Opening Day, or even during the Opening Weekend. I'm not really too enthused for the latest installment, and I'm still bitter about the lack of Oliver Wood/Sean Biggerstaff.

I can't believe you wizards and witches aren't going to dress up!  You can go a s a wizard while wearing normal clothing, just mix and match a few silly things, and then keep asking your companions if you look enough like a Muggle.

I'm going for the full wizarding gear. I have a medieval surcoat and cape I can wear, and a really cool hat. I think I'm going to get a wooden dowel at the hardware store and make myself a simple wand this time around. Gotta have something to hold and misplace and gesture with, eh?

If it were a winter release, I'd wear my cool awesome scarf Ping knitted me and try to coblle together a school uniform - but I don't want to die of heatstroke, and I'm a little old to be a student. Eventually, I'm going to do Professor McGongall's green outfit, because it just looks so cool.

I dunno......I've mentioned it before, but I got all dressed up as Rogue for the X-Men premiere, and I was the only one.  I've never been so embarassed....

Maybe I'll keep my costume in a backpack and wait to see what everybody else looks like.  I don't wanna be the only one!

I was the only person in an X-wing flight suit at the Episode 2 premiere, but I had a blast. I just know that everyone was jealous of my costume.  ;)  I actually met one lone Jedi, and we got our picture taken for a local paper.

It depends on how brave you are (and Slytherins aren't noted for their bravery, so feel bad about not dressing up.  :P) I'm dressing up all the way, and a few of my friends are going to do the "mixed up Muggle" clothing routine. It's going to be a blast.

Ahem......did I say I wasn't going to dress up?  You must've heard me wrong.  Not only am I going to dress up, I'm going to wear a huge sign saying HARRY POTTER FAN HERE.  START YOUR TAUNTING.

:laugh:Thanks, Jan, that was just the kick in the butt I needed.

I'm here to help!

We'll have to take a few pictures and post them here so all the lily-hearted wusses can see what fun they missed.

Hey!  I take exception to that.  Dressing up and drawing attention to yourself does NOT necessarily make you brave, nor does wearing normal clothing make you a coward.

I haven't been to see the movie yet.  My husband and I were so disappointed with the first two that I'm going to have to do some serious cajoling to get him to go at all.  I think you can count me out for dressing up, since I'm trying to get him to come at all.  ;)

But for Halloween we might dress Maddy up as a Niffler, and ourselves as some other form of magical creatures.  Or maybe just a wizard and witch.  But hypogriffs would be more fun!  (And more work)

Hey, some people are costumers, and some aren't. And I stood there in line, quietly talking with my friends. It was the tall hat that grabbed attention.

I'm glad I did, though. Even though it was a late show, there were still some teens there. Several of them really liked what I was wearing, and came over to talk to me because of it. Most other responses were very positive. As huge lines of people filed by, most of them got huge smiles on their faces. I like to costume mostly for the little kids, and I did see one little girls on my way in. Her parents pointed me out to her and we waved at eachother. Yeah, I love little kids. They rock.

I kinda forgot to get pictures, but I could at least dress up again and take a few shots to show you what I was wearing.  :-[

Me:

~green-and-silver hair (hair dye is still partially visible today, too :-[)
~black gown
~drawn-in dark eyebrows in a "sinister" position
~necklace with little gold snake pendant

Then some kid had the nerve to come up and ask me if I was Snape.   :P
