Um, Heather?  Can we ask clarifying questions so that we are sure we understand the question?

so we can't post the answers and stuff in the trivia thread, but can we discuss this in the common rooms?

Or did you want this as an individual basis or is it house agains house?

I would bet they're individual, particularly if each person who gets them right gets points.

Clarifying questions are perfectly fine - I just want to make sure the thread doesn't get too cluttered.

With respect to Marold's question:

Quote

Or did you want this as an individual basis or is it house agains house?

I think it is best that answering the trivia questions be an individual effort as opposed to having a collaborative effort through discussions in house common rooms.  That way we avoid the houses with more members being able to earn more points than the houses with fewer active members.  As Cho stated, this is for points, so in the interest of fairness, your trivia answers should be your own effort.

So can I ask whether you mean in LV's quest for immortality before he killed James and Lily or after?  Or can you not answer that?

The question is limited to his quest for immortality after he killed James and Lily.  This question is limited to Voldemort's actions taken during the time frame of Harry's 1-5 years at Hogwarts.

Correct - the question is - what three magical substances/potions did Voldemort actually use to try to obtain immortality/stave off death?

If you submit multiple answers, the most recent submission will be the one which I count.

Good Luck!!!

October 27 Trivia Challenge Question:

This week's question was submitted by SeaShelly.

At the end of book four, when Harry gives Fred and George his winnings from the Tri-Wizard Tournament. Fred remarks about the size of the gift, and Harry replies "Yeah, think how many canary creams that is."

The question: Exactly how many canary creams could you buy with the Tri-Wizard winnings?

Also, five points to SeaShelly for such a great question!

Do you want it as a decimal answer, or rounded up? Or have I got the wrong number?

I submitted the number you can buy, and the change ... is that okay? Because it's not like you can buy half a canary cream, that's nuts.

The answer to the trivia question for October 27 is:

2428(.571428...)

To answer this question, you had to know:
a. How much Harry won in the TriWizard Tournament (1000 galleons)
b. How many sickles are in a galleon (17)
c. How much a canary cream costs (7 sickles)

The winners for this week (who earned their house 5 points each) are:

Xan
Marold
Angelina Tonks
Sarah Blacks

For two bonus points:  please state all of the passwords used to access Dumbledore's office.

Good luck!

Good luck   ;D

One of the Slytherins is out on a running thing for school.  I don't know when she'll be back but I know she was participating in the Trivia stuff.

Is there anything we can do about her answers?
