Return of the Trivia!
« on: July 22, 2002, 08:43:01 PM »

Thought I'd

bring this back. I don't really remember that point system we had worked out, but I thought this would be fun to do again.

So, first question:
When

Hermione caught Ron and Harry sneaking out to a wizard's duel with Malfoy, she told them not to go, saying they'd loose the points she had gained for

knowing what spell?

ETA:
..................................................................... RULES...................................................
Every house can play

in the trivia game! Once a question is asked, there are allowed to be up to 3 guesses for the answer. Whoever gets the answer correct, posts the next

question (after a confirmation that their guess was correct) and gets 1 point.

If nobody guesses the correct answer to a question after 3 guesses, the

person who asked the question gets the point and asks another question.

Each question is worth 1 point.

At the 100th post, we add all the points

up.
1st place house gets a 40 point bonus,
2nd place house gets 20 points,
3rd place house gets 10 points, and
4th place house gets 5 (points for

participation)

For knowing about Switching Spells!

Take 15 points for reviving the trivia thread!

And since I just looked it up, I know it's right, so I can go on, right? :)

How many of Charlie's friends

came to take Norbert away?

for some reason I think it's

three, or possibly five.... I'll look it up though. Ok, so it was four. Oh well.

Which of Ron's relatives supposedly saw a Grim before he

died?

Ah, there we go. His uncle Bilius.

What town is the Weasley home close to?

That's absolutely unacceptable! *searches book 4* Darn. Can't find it. Wait, I remember now! Ottery St. Catchpol. Or something along those lines,

right?

On the train to Hogwarts for the very first time, which wizard's collector's cards did Ron say he still needed in

order to complete his set?

obviously harry got the

Hungarian Horntail. I think Cedric got the swedish short snout, and Fleur may of had the Chinese Fireball, but I can not for the life of me remember the

last dragon. I'll just have to look it up. Rather, Krum had the fireball, and Fleur the welsh green.

I almost said "Lemon fresh,"

but I checked, and it's "Pine fresh."

Assuming I'm right, what are the "few words" that Dumbledore says before the feast

in book 1?

How many points would Harry have

gotten if he had shot Riddle's diary through Myrtle's nose?

50. Now let me look it up and

see if it's right. And it was. And now I need to ask a question.

Umm.......  How many points did Ron and Harry earn for saving Ginny from the

I agree.  But apparently we aren't

doing things from memory anymore.  People seem to be looking things up all over the place before answering.  Seems a little against the spirit of a trivia

game, if you ask me, but this is how things have been going, so, you know, when in Rome....

I'll retract the question if you like and ask

another.

No, no....  Don't mind

me.

However, and this is to those who look things up, I don't see the fun in what becomes essentially an easy research exercise.

Just

MHO.

I agree, actually.  And so on principle

I'll retract the question and ask another.

In Book 3 when Snape takes over teaching Lupin's class because Lupin is "sick," when

Snape announces that today they are going to learn about werewolves, what magical creature does Hermione say they were supposed to study

next?
