Filch looks even meanier, which the students

didn't think was possible. "Party?" he spat. "I've not been told of any party. I'll be telling your heads of house about this, don't think I

won't. You'll be lucky if they don't expel the lot of you." He spun and stalked towards the door, then paused. "If I find so much as one

particle of confetti in here, I will clap you all in irons and hang you buy your feet for a week."

With that, he strode out, slamming the door

behind them.

Ping shivered, but AZ seemed quite cheerful. "Well, that went rather well, all things considered."

"I don't

want to be clapped in irons," Ping said softly.

"Then let's get to work," Lauren said. They began cleaning up the confetti, Ping

using a spell her grandfather had taught her that made her wand act like a push-broom.

Minutes later, as Ping was sweeping up

the last particle of confetti, Filch and Mrs. Norris walked in again, this time followed by Snape.  Clearly, Snape had been warned that points may need to

be deducted.  He entered with glee at the thought of deducting points from Ravenclaw and Gryffindor.

"Mrs. Norris!" snapped Filch,

"See if you can find even a speck of the confetti left over from that party that 'someone' threw."

Mrs. Norris stalked through the

room, eyes glowing, and inspected every last corner.  Just as she started heading toward the suit of armor in the far corner, AZ noticed that behind it was

a little pile of confetti that had been missed.  Desperately, he tried to distract Mrs. Norris and send her on a detour to the other corner of the room, where

the couches were.

Mrs. Norris looked at AZ

suspiciously, but finally wandered over to the couches. Quickly, Lauren pushed her penguin over towards the confetti, and Chilly quickly swallowed the

mess. With the confetti pile sucessfully taken care of, the students breathed a collective sigh of relief.

"Well, this appears to be in

order," Snape said with obvious disappointment, and the unsightly trio left the hall.

As they walked out, Chilly started

sputtering and suddenly coughed up a little ball of confetti, which AZ and Lauren quickly swept up and threw in the trash while Ping and Cho both started

coughing loudly so as to make sure that Filch, Snape, and Mrs. Norris didn't hear Chilly.

Luckily, Snape, the caretaker and his

cat left without a backwards glance.

"wow, that was close guys.... thanks for your help Chilly," said Lauren.

In reply, the

penguin burped loudly and deposited another confetti ball on the floor of the hall.

"Ewww..."

All stared at Chilly has he feebly waved a

wing in reply.  After all, regurgitating confetti balls does take its toll.

Suddenly the door creaked open slowly again, and Filch and Mrs. Norris

had re-entered.

"Aha!" barked Filch triumphantly.  "A penguin on campus!  That's against the rules for sure, Miss

Weasley.  You are allowed a rat, cat, toad, or owl, but not a penguin.  Wait until I tell Professor McGonagall."  Filch looked

positively ecstatic to have finally caught this suspicious-looking group of students at something.

AZ leans over to Lauren and

wispers "dont worry, i got it..."

"But...but..." stuttered Lauren

"1/32 owl! hes 3/4 owl!" all the students

turn shocked stares towards AZ
"you understate his prowess Lauren! he was about to head back up to the owlery right now!"

Az

then leans back and asks in a super quite voice "hey, do any of you remember our lesson from monday about making things levitate....i

forgot..."

All the students then harden their stares while draining of color at AZ's marvelous tact and planning....

Before AZ can mis-pronounce the spell and gew

squashed by a buffalo, Ping stepped to the side of her classmates and quietly whispered the words of the spell, swishing and flicking her wand to send

Chilly floating towards the owlery.

As a stunned Chilly levitated

his way toward the owlery, flapping his stubby little wings, an even more stunned Filch watched the penguin flap its way to safety.

When he got

control of himself, he turned his eyes toward AZ, an angry gleam in his already malicious eye.

"You!"  he snarled.  "You did that

somehow, didn't you?  Just wait, boy, until I catch you at something that you won't be able to get out of.  Then you'll really[/u] regret that you

ever messed with me."

Filch stalked out of the room. Mrs. Norris, tail and head up as if she, too, had been deeply offended, followed quickly on

his heels.

As the door snapped shut, everyone let out a collective sigh.

It was a few minutes before they

dared to speak again.

"Wow, the man is bitter. It's a penguin, who bloody cares? Thanks so much Ping, but uh, where's Chilly? He's

afraid of heights!" Lauren said, looking around for her pet.

As Lauren entered the owlery, she looked

up and found Chilly wedged in between the rafters.  Apparently the spell had worked:  Chilly was in the owlery.  However, the spell did not allow for Chilly

to have a smooth landing anywhere.  Once he got into the owlery, the spell just stuck him in the first convenient location.  Since the rest of the owls were

perched on the rafters, the spell stuck Chilly there, too.

Chilly waved his right wing toward Lauren in a desperate plea for

help.

"AZ!"  shouted Lauren.  "Get him down from there!"

AZ was already doing his best

though, climbing onto a rather precarious ledge in order to get closer to the stranded penguin.

"Honestly, AZ!"

Cho, panting, entered the owlery with Ping fast on her heels.  Seeing AZ climbing up toward the rafters, she let out an exclamation.  "Didn't you

learn anything in Charms?  You could have just done this:  winGARdium leviOsa!"

Little Chilly became suddenly unwedged as Cho,

guiding him with her wand, moved him out of the rafters and gently plopped him down in front of Lauren.

She then pointed her wand at AZ and the

same thing happened to him ... only the plopping wasn't quite as gentle.

"Oops!  Sorry, AZ.  You're a little, er, heavier than Chilly is, you

know."

Lauren raises both eyebrows

questioningly, but lets it slide. "Well, thanks Cho. Why don't we raid the kitchens or something?"

"The kitchens? How do you

get in?" asked Ping.

"You just tickle the pear." Lauren explained, but Ping just stared blankly.

They all headed down the hall toward the

painting of the fruit.  As Lauren reached out her hand to tickle the pear, Professor Snape rounded the corner and said in a cold voice, "So,

Gryffindors, what are you doing in this hallway at this time of day?  Shouldn't you all be heading to your common room?  What's so interesting about

that painting?"

Lauren quickly turned her tickle to pointing and said with feigned enthusiasm, "Wow, look how well this fruit painting is

done!  Look at the colors and the shadows!  Isn't that amazing, Ping?"  Lauren gave Ping a quick elbow in the ribs.
