I cannot express how excited I am to live in driving distance of Orlando, FL, or what will soon be known as Hogwarts!!!!!

Below is a link to an article announcing that a Harry Potter Theme Park will open in Orlando in 2009!!!!  Yippee!

That might actually get me to Orlando when Disney World has failed to do so. Smiley

Yeah.  Not quite sure about that one.  You guys can let me know if it's worth going to.

On the other hand, it *could* be the sight for our first ever Hogwarts meeting!

That's kinda what I'm hoping to accomplish with the Hogwarts Comes To Tennessee bit.  On a small scale, of course.   Grin

Well, I know this has been dead for quite some time, but much else on the board (all?) has been dead... so I feel no shame in bringing this back up Smiley

The theme park is now set to open in 2010, and there are tons of sneaky photos all over the internet.  Anyone kept up with this at all?

I haven't seen the pictures - where are the links?Huh?  I would love to look at them.  The Universal website has several "artist renderings" of what it may look like.  I can only imagine how hard it is going to be to get into the park when it opens.  However, I am sure I will be one of the masses.

The renderings on the official site are cool but the "unofficial" pics are way better! I can't remember the URL and I'm posting from my phone so hard to find the links - but I just found them with a good google search. There's some site that has a TON of pics and captions with little bits of news. If someone funds it before I do, post the link - otherwise I will later.

As for me, I'll go, but it will be a while before I can afford that!

Oh - also - I wanted to ad - there was a TV special about the theme park that was run in Orlando, FL.  It's somewhere on YouTube (again, I can't remember how I came across it...), but worth looking if anyone is motivated!

I'm torn. Harry Potter! But there will probably be roller coasters, which ... um ... too scared. I have a thing about heights. (It's probably a good thing I never took up Quidditch, eh?) But ... Harry Potter!

This link has some of the concept art. http://www.cinematical.com/2009/09/15/preview-2010s-wizarding-world-of-harry-potter-theme-park/

(I hope there is more than mostly just restaurants and shops, which is kind of what it looks like!) Smiley

I could be talked into going to Orlando for this.  In fact, a couple of work friends and I *have* discussed it.  Not completely seriously, of course, but not completely joking, either....

Hmm, this article seems to imply a May opening, though I would probably be surprised if that was the case. But I'm a skeptic when it comes to construction of something ever being done on time. However, if it is done and open for the summer.... Cheesy

There have been commercials about the park on TV. Just saw one. I'm still curious to know more of the specifics. And what the entrance price is. *bounce*

So the last article I read said there are only gonna be three rides. Does this mean the rest of it is going to be them trying to sell me things? Do I care? Hmmm.... *checks calendar for holes*
